Pioneer of the Week: Ike Sikuade
This week, we’ve selected Ike Sikuade to be our Pioneer of the Week as her response to a ‘Challenge’ set by innocent’s co-founder, Richard Reed really summed up a sensible yet inspiring approach to starting out as an entrepreneur.
Congratulations, Ike!
Why we’ve chosen Ike
The way Ike Sikuade went about starting her business is a sensible approach but as every entrepreneur knows, even a sensible approach needs an original idea and a lot of confidence.
In his ‘Get It Started Challenge’ innocent co-founder Richard Reed challenged Pioneers to stop talking about an idea and ‘get it started’.
Ike’s response really stood out to us as she replied:
‘Richard is right – sometimes you just have to get up and go otherwise procrastination might get the better of you.
I’m about to launch a start-up, which caters to the pre-wedding market. Showerella creates activity box sets for a fresh and sophisticated twist on the traditional Bridal Party. It started with one bridal shower and I slowly tested the concept by hosting more and more bridal showers and hen parties – each time I refined my product offering based on customers’ feedback.
Our first retail-ready product ‘Scentelier’ – a luxe perfume making party box-set for bridal showers and hen parties – will launch this month. This would have never happened without me taking that first step with that first bridal shower.
Lao Tzu puts it perfectly: “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.
I hope my short ‘Founder’s Video’ inspires someone else to bite the bullet and just get up and go… best of luck to us all!’.
We loved hearing Ike’s story about turning an idea for a business into a reality. Ike is proof that sometimes the best business ideas start with a good intention.

‘Hi, I’m Ike and I’m the brain behind Showerella.com. Showerella is a consumer product startup focused on the pre-wedding party market. We create activity box sets for a fresh and sophisticated take on Hen Parties and Bridal Showers. Our first product, Scentelier – a luxe perfume-making party box set – launches Oct 2012.
