Ronke Ige
Ronke's info
I'm from London, South East, United Kingdom and I'm here to motivate others, find inspiration, expand my network
So far I have a great idea, written a business plan, gained funding, registered the company, started trading
Ronke Ige founded Emi & Ben – a natural skin care company specialising in body butters handmade from 100% unrefined Shea butter in 2009.
For many centuries Shea butter has been used on the African continent and it was due to becoming an expectant mother, the brand Emi & Ben was born. To read the story behind why the brand was born, please visit http://www.emiandben.com and click on ‘Emi & Ben – The Story.
All Emi & Ben products are natural and don’t contain manmade chemicals such as parabens, sodium laureth sulphate, artificial colours or synthetic fragrances. Emi & Ben products are full of natural exotic butters, essentials oils and pure base oils which result in our luscious smooth body treats, suitable for the whole family.
In 2009 I approached the charity for young people The Prince’s Trust and signed up for their business programme. This consisted of training days, being allocated a business executive, drafting a comprehensive business plan and presenting to a Dragon’s Den style panel. At the end of the period (which took just under 4 weeks), I was awarded a business loan to cover the start up costs for the business (yippee!). The only reason why my process was completed in a relatively short space of time is simply due to my ambition, drive and focus – I was determined to get the business up and run ASAP!
Emi & Ben has been trading since September 2009. Since then Emi & Ben have a weekly stall at Greenwich market (South London), every Friday and Sunday and a booming mail order business. We also sell within a children’s wear stall in Brick Lane, Tea Rooms called ‘Dandy Dodo’ and last month we just won several wholesale accounts in the UK (London, Ireland and Leicester). We’ve also received coverage on BBC News 24, BBC Radio 5 Live, a full page in national newspaper Daily Mirror and women’s lifestyle publication Pride Magazine. We will continue to build on our success, with the aim of making Emi & Ben a house hold name in the natural skin care sector.
I'm interested in Socialising, eating good food, fashion, eating good food and laughing!!
