Shara Johnson

Hi Everyone :)

I’m Shara , originally from Birmingham but I’m now based in London and am a fashion designer currently studying at the London College of Fashion. I loooovvvveeee fashion and love incoporating interesting concepts and stories into my designs.

My designs tend to have a bright colour palette and a lot of print…I dont really use a lot of black…I think the world is so full of darkness and doom and gloom already that I just want my designs to brighten things up and for people not to feel restricted or afraid to express themselves through colour.

In 2010 I entered a Fashion competition called ‘MYFDA’, got to the finals and also had the privelege of having my design selected to be shown on the catwalk of the ‘Birmingham Clothes show Live 2010′ and have my profile posted via their website – an amazing experience.

The Name of my up and coming label is called ‘Shara J’ , the concept behind this name is that my name ‘shara’ means ‘princess’ in Hebrew. I feel like so many women in todays society no longer celebrate who they are as individuals and perceive themselves how others perceive them, because so much emphasis is placed on looking sexy instead of feeling beautiful from the inside out. When women or young girls wear my clothes…I want them to feel alive, special and feel beautiful like princesses…for themselves first…and others second. :)

I would love to start out selling printed tops with slogans and then branch out into doing some of my more ambitions luxury designs. I would love to design for music artists (especially Labrinth). My ultimate goal is to have an extreamley sucessful clothing line and show at London Fashion Week, and for my process to be an inspiration to other people.
